RSM residents enjoy active lifestyles and community events. The RSM lake which is actually named Lago Santa Margarita is a man made lake that is exactly one mile around for those who are counting miles when exercising. It is owned by the SAMLARC Homeowners Association.

Activities on and around RSM Lake

There are many fun activities that local residents can participate in. Residents are part of the Lago Santa Margarita Beach Club which allows them to use the swimming pools and tennis courts around Rancho Santa Margarita. The Beach Club Lagoon is located on the lake and offers fishing boats and paddle boats as well as a beach and lagoon like swimming pool.

Fishing is allowed on the lake and a permit is not required as it is a privately owned lake. Each spring, the lake is stocked with bass, bluegill and catfish,

There are two major events that take place annually on the lake:

The Star-Spangled Spectacular on the 4th of July. Bands play and fireworks shot up over the lake. Many families come out and bring blankets and chairs to put on the lawn around the lake. In addition, for beach club members there are picnic tables around the lagoon and barbq grills.

The annual Fishing Derby which consists of a fishing contest, games, painting, and music. It is on the RSM lake and takes place in the summer.
